Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death and illness in Alberta and across Canada

More than 3,800 Albertans die annually due to tobacco-related causes. As a partner in the Campaign for a Smoke-Free Alberta, Alberta Blue Cross® is part of a coalition of prominent health organizations that are working together to reduce tobacco use in Alberta. Our vision is a healthier Alberta, free from addiction and involuntary exposure to tobacco industry products. Over the past few years as smoking has taken on a new look under the guise of vaping, tobacco use is now on the rise in Alberta—particularly among teens and young adults, As a champion for wellness, we support increased tobacco and vaping regulations and are working with organizations such as the Lung Association to increase awareness of the dangers of vaping among youth.
